What Dambisa brings

A global economist who reads the world from two seats at once — trained at Oxford and Harvard, sharpened at Goldman Sachs, and seasoned in the boardrooms of Chevron, Starbucks, and 3M. Moyo connects the macro forces reshaping growth directly to the decisions companies and boards must make.

Keynote topics

The Global Economy and the Forces Reshaping Growth

A contrarian reading of where global growth is really heading, drawn from demographics, resource scarcity, inequality, and technological disruption. Moyo argues most institutions are slow to confront these forces — and shows what harder, longer-term thinking looks like.

Geopolitics, China, and the Race for Resources

How China's resource strategy and the contest for commodities are redrawing the map of economic power. Moyo brings the perspective of an economist who has advised governments and sits on the boards of some of the world's largest corporations.

Emerging Markets and the Shifting Balance of Economic Power

Why the center of gravity in the global economy is moving, and what that means for investors and companies. Moyo, born in Zambia and a lifelong student of developing economies, maps the opportunities and risks most Western institutions underweight.

How Boards and Companies Navigate a Chaotic World

A director's-eye view of decision-making under pressure, from someone who has sat on the boards of Barclays, SABMiller, and Condé Nast. Moyo translates macro uncertainty into the concrete choices leadership teams face.

Baroness Moyo is an internationally acclaimed economist whose work centers on the macroeconomy, global affairs, and the forces driving growth and instability across the world. Born in Zambia, she is the author of five books — four of them New York Times bestsellers — including Edge of Chaos, Winner Take All, and How Boards Work, and her writing appears regularly in the Financial Times, The Economist, and The Wall Street Journal. Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world, and she was awarded the Hayek Lifetime Achievement Award.

Moyo earned a doctorate in economics from Oxford and a master's from Harvard, and spent nearly a decade at Goldman Sachs working in debt capital markets and global macroeconomics, advising developing countries on international bond issuance. A veteran corporate director, she serves on the boards of Chevron, Starbucks, National Geographic, and Condé Nast, and has previously sat on the boards of Barclays, SABMiller, and 3M — giving her a rare vantage point on how the world's largest companies make decisions under pressure.
