George Westerman is a Senior Lecturer and Principal Research Scientist at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where his work sits at the intersection of executive leadership and technology strategy. Over more than two decades at MIT, he has studied why some organisations translate digital capability into sustained performance while others accumulate technology without changing how the business works.
Westerman is the co-author of three award-winning books, including Leading Digital, and the founder of the Global Opportunity Forum. He co-chairs the MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Awards, serves on the Digital Strategy Roundtable of the US Library of Congress and advises the WHO Academy on learning strategy. Before his academic career, he spent thirteen years in product development and technology leadership. His keynotes and executive sessions help boards and leadership teams move the conversation from tools and pilots to operating models, governance, skills and measurable transformation.
