WHY APRIL

What April brings to the room.

April Rinne brings the human experience of uncertainty into conversations about change and the future of work. She connects global experience in development, finance and emerging business models with the practices described in Flux. Her perspective helps leaders examine how their own relationship with control, pace and trust influences the way they respond to change. For executive teams and organisations facing repeated transitions, she creates a discussion about adaptability that includes the people carrying those transitions. The room can consider what it needs to learn, which habits deserve reconsideration and how to move forward when certainty remains out of reach.

KEYNOTE TOPICS

Ideas built for the stage.

01

Flux: Thriving in Constant Change

How can people respond when change keeps arriving and familiar expectations no longer provide direction? Rinne introduces the Flux perspective and its eight practices for relating differently to uncertainty. This theme is relevant to leadership teams and organisations navigating repeated transitions. It opens a discussion about pace, control and the assumptions people carry, then asks which habits could help them participate in change with greater awareness and intention.

02

Leading Through Uncertainty and Change Fatigue

A team can understand the case for change while still feeling exhausted by the demands it creates. Rinne brings a human lens to the leadership choices within that tension. For executives and people leaders, this theme connects adaptability with the way uncertainty is experienced day to day. The conversation asks what leaders expect of themselves and others, and which habits can support participation when there is no settled view of what comes next.

03

Beyond the Ladder: Talent and Career Portfolios

What happens when a linear career path becomes a less useful guide to work and opportunity? Rinne explores career portfolios and the changing relationship between skills, experience and professional identity. This theme suits leaders, people teams and audiences reconsidering their own careers. It invites a conversation about how individuals build a meaningful mix of capabilities and how organisations can recognise talent whose experience does not follow a conventional progression.

04

Trust and Human Connection in a World of Change

When technology and uncertainty reshape familiar relationships, leaders need to consider the human conditions that make adaptation possible. Drawing on the Flux practices of beginning with trust and strengthening human connection, Rinne explores how people approach the unknown together. For organisations navigating new ways of working, the theme asks what helps people stay connected and what their current habits may overlook. It links the experience of change with everyday choices about relationships.

April Rinne is a change navigator, futurist, advisor and author of Flux: 8 Superpowers for Thriving in Constant Change. Her work explores how individuals and organisations relate to uncertainty and how that relationship affects their choices. She brings a global perspective shaped by work across development, finance, technology and changing models of employment and enterprise.

Rinne's early professional work focused on global development and financial inclusion. As a microfinance lawyer and development executive, she worked with entrepreneurs, policymakers and investors on ways to expand access to finance and livelihoods. She later moved into the digital and sharing economies, where new business models raised further questions about work, community and the relationship between companies and public institutions.

She holds a law degree from Harvard Law School, a master's degree in international business and finance from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and an undergraduate degree from Emory University. Her advisory work has included companies, financial institutions, nonprofits and governments. Extensive travel and experience across different cultures inform her attention to the different ways people understand and respond to change.

In Flux, Rinne sets out eight practices for developing a different relationship with constant change. They include reconsidering pace, recognising blind spots, beginning with trust and building a career portfolio. Her speaking also explores leadership through uncertainty, the future of talent and careers, and the human connections that matter as technology changes how people live and work.

For leadership audiences, Rinne's contribution is to connect a changing external environment with the internal habits through which people respond. Her work is relevant when repeated transitions create fatigue, established career assumptions become less reliable or a team struggles to act without a clear view of what comes next. She invites leaders to examine their relationship with uncertainty and the expectations they place on others. That human lens complements discussions of scenarios and strategy by asking how people can participate in change with greater awareness and intention.
