Keyu Jin is a global economist, author and Professor of Finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Born and raised in Beijing and educated at Harvard, she brings together Chinese, American and European perspectives on economic policy, innovation and globalisation.
Before joining HKUST in 2025, Jin spent 15 years at the London School of Economics. She is an academic member of the China Finance 40 Group and has worked with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the China Banking Regulatory Commission. She also serves as a non-executive director of Richemont and Jardine Matheson.
Her book The New China Playbook: Beyond Socialism and Capitalism challenges familiar Western assumptions about China’s economic model. On stage, she helps executive audiences distinguish structural realities from geopolitical shorthand — particularly around domestic demand, technology, entrepreneurship, demographic change and China’s evolving relationship with the world.
